International Travel Programme Case Study

A privately-owned investment institution recently tasked Clive with putting together yet another unforgettable travel programme after ten consecutive years of weekends away, conceived and delivered by us – this time it was their 20th anniversary.

For the previous eight years the programmes have involved exclusive hires, and this year was no different. So, we thought about how to wow these high-rollers with a fresh and exciting new experience after all those years.

The first part of the solution was to keep it top secret… the second, and perhaps more impressive, was to book out an entire cruise ship. That’s right ladies and gents, this was going to be one spectacular weekend.

The unsuspecting guests arrived in Nice where they were soon whisked off into cars in the direction of the hotels along the Promenade des Anglais. Despite expecting to get out and check in somewhere – and from the conjecture, they really had no clue of what was to come – the cars kept driving until the confusion had reached its peak, and the vehicles had reached water.

The objective was to reward an extremely hard working, highly skilled team and reinforce their organisation’s focus on a one team culture.

There, towering above them, a gleaming white ship complete with five masts was moored. The mighty vessel in question was the Club Med 2 with 180 cabins and all manner of facilities, which was completely at their disposal. Gradually the realisation spread throughout the group that this was their ship for the weekend, and the excitement really took off. You can imagine the noise!

Once aboard, and with the ship all to themselves, the revelry began. While the ship cast off for Monaco, as did a spectacular party on the aft deck, the 130-strong team got into the spirit of things. They kicked back in the pool and explored the ship’s numerous offerings.

Work hard, play hard was the order of the day for this energetic bunch.

After partying into the early hours, the ship set sail once again – this time for the idyllic beaches of Calvi in Corsica, where they took part in exploration challenges around the old town followed by beach games such as volleyball, kayaking, paddle-boarding as well as a Pirate themed singing workshop and snorkelling off the back of the boat! The day finished with a Gala dinner and the ultimate outdoor party on the top deck. Finally, it was an overnight sail onto Antibes where guests were able to soak up the culture of another old town, enclosed by 16th-century ramparts and the star-shaped Fort Carré.

Clive of course took care of everything, from ship selection to signage, the whole experience was tailored to suit – even the menus! The objective was to reward an extremely hard working, highly skilled team and reinforce their organisation’s focus on a one team culture. Mission accomplished.
