We recently helped Dataiku with EGG LDN 2019, a new type of AI conference which shines the spotlight on real-world use cases and hot topics such as machine learning interpretability, bias, and fairness from the people who are making AI happen. We helped elevate this event from 300 attendees to 800, ensuring the event was the biggest to date.
AI is rapidly evolving – influencing more and more industries by the day, particularly as we move towards a world lead by automated, virtual and digital hybrid solutions. Previous EGG conferences placed a heavy focus on preparing for, and executing necessary organisational change, whereas we were able to bring entirely new angles to the speaker content for EGG 2019. In particular, EGG 2019 focussed on talks and workshops surrounding AI perceptions and ethics, both of which have become hot topics in newsrooms and boardrooms across the world.
Our dedicated crowd control teams worked closely with the local council and TfL along the route to the event, distributing energising juice drops; bespoke recipe blends of juice and smoothies to set delegates up for the day, as part of the pre-event brand activation.
Important topics require impactful surroundings. So, Clive stepped in to lend a hand providing full creative strategy (including environment aesthetic, content development and design), AV and set production, as well as onsite management across the main plenary area, three breakout plenaries and the press room, including the networking and demo area, to transform Tobacco Dock into a hive of AI insights. Our talented experience designers worked with the venue to craft the huge physical spaces we occupied into a journey of memorable, manageable content consumption for attendees. One of our favourite elements of the summit however, was an interactive kinetic display that we installed as a double-take surprise and delight moment for attendees.
The “flip disc” technology was comprised of physical monochromatic discs which flipped in real time, acting like pixels to replicate the image it was monitoring via 3D cameras. As guests entered its range, Dataiku’s branding dissolved away to capture their mirror image in pixel-form – this quickly became a game to ‘beat the discs’, with some of the leading figures in AI charging past the screen, creating some truly priceless clips for social media! A great example of the capabilities of interactive smart tech which perfectly complemented the theme and topics of the day. Not to mention increasing visibility of the event to online audiences.
We also helped them with a pre-event brand activation to generate excitement as guests travelled to the event. Our team dispersed themselves at key stations along the route to the event for an energiser juice drop; handing out smoothies to EGG delegates and setting them up for the day (as well as serving to building up momentum before arrival).
With 37+ thought leaders sharing their unique insights against an engaging yet stylish, welcoming backdrop, and attendance almost tripled from the previous year, the event was a huge success for both Clive and Dataiku.
