The Imaginarium Staff Engagement Party Dublin

What happens when an organisation wants to engage its workforce, both from a business perspective and to reward their teams? Clive came up with an unforgettable evening that would stay with them forever… One which started months before, through content development and creative strategy.

In December 2016, 1600 of this leading Tech company’s sales and marketing staff from throughout the EMEA region landed in Dublin for an annual week of conference and networking. However, once the sun had set and formal proceedings came to a close, things started to get weird.

We had to come up with an evening party which was memorable, shareable and exciting for international audience –we created a theme that was both strange and unexpected; welcome to “The Imaginarium”. To launch the event, the mystery began with a pre-event film teaser and poster campaign around the strapline “The only limit is your imagination”. The excitement was building in offices across the region.

To create the weird and wonderful dreamscape, we of course had to start with the venue. After searching high and low, we selected an unused and little known shopping centre in the heart Dublin’s docklands. Hiring out the entire space gave us multiple floors for creativity to run riot so it was time to go to town kitting the place out. One focal point was the stage which included a giant curved projection screen wrapped around a stunning tree, showcasing Imaginarium animations created in the Clive studio. But that was just start.

We invested heavily in high-impact lighting and projection techniques to bring this blank canvas venue to life. Several activation areas were set up throughout the complex including: a psychedelic Bedouin tent for some downtime, abstract “invisible dot room” in their signature brand colours (a surreal room inspired by legendary artist Yayoi Kusama that made you literally lose yourself amongst the painted dots and contorting walls) and a rowing boat suspended by balloons with a sky backdrop.

There was a self-pouring cocktail robot installation, a curious “pluck and hug” room (which, if you hadn’t guessed, was a room full of furry orbs which lit up when you hugged them!) and there were even designers on site animating pictures of guests taken by our army of professional photographers. Enthrallment was the order of the evening.

The evening was headlined by Jack Garratt, but the entertainment line-up also included an incredible party band, mesmerising dancers, confetti cannons and DJ complete with levitating balls covering the DJ booth (yep really!). There was street food aplenty served from themed food stations and the star of the show was our 30m bar constructed from bespoke metallic prisms and light installations.

And that’s not all… There were floral headdresses and glitter beards to get guests looking the part. We even installed giant illuminated flowers originally created for the visionary team at Bestival and built a stunning metal spinning light installation to form the backdrop to photos as guests arrived.

The dance floor was packed until the very end but the music had to stop sometime so once the last scraps of confetti had fallen, we ensured the Imaginarium lived on by producing a highlights video so guests could relive party again and again. The outcome was an energised, connected and proud team, not to mention a client who told us this was the best party they’d ever had! We can’t ask for better feedback than that.
